DIPLOMATE SIVOLA (Ben Sutton) - The Pytchley with Woodland at Dingley

Pytchley at Guilsborough, Sunday 13th March – Preview

News by Nico

On Sunday the 13th March Midlands Pointing returns to Guilsborough for the Pytchley meeting after sadly losing the fixture to COVID in 2021.

The racecourse is on the A5199 between Creaton and Thornby. E-tickets are still available from the Point-to-Point website where adult admission is £13 (under 16s free). Please feel free to bring your dog but it must be on a lead at all times.

The day’s racing start at midday when there will be three pony races, divided by size of pony and experience, for which as many as 21 ponies have entered. A great turn out and something for everyone.

The first and second horse races of the day, the first starting at 1pm, are both for horses which have never won races in point-to-points. The first is restricted to horses which are four or five years old and incudes Champagne Glory and Doctor Tom, who were both second on their last runs, while The Borobudur makes its racecourse debut.

The second race is kindly sponsored by Dallas Burston and is for maiden horses of all ages. These have a little more experience but are still looking for their first win between the flags. The highest rated horse here is Blackjacktennessee, while Equus Flight, Felino de Bersy, Mossy Be Lucky, Niftyfifty and Wireless Operator should all compete.

Horses which have only won a single race are represented in the third race, the Elevation Investment Management Restricted race. Ballymac Boy, Enron, Go Go Geronimo The New Kid and Whatya On About are the ones to watch here, I think.

The feature race of the day comes next in the form of the Berry’s Mixed Open race, where we will see the most experienced and successfully horses of the day.

As many as eleven runners could start this one and on recent form it should be a great shotout between the likes of Tully’s Touch (three wins from three this season), The Dellercheckout (two wins from three), and the local favourite Volnay de Thaix. Bingo Star, Diplomate Sivola and Early Retirement will challenge.

The fifth race of the day is a Conditions race for PPORA Club members and is kindly sponsored by The Hawthorns. Bingo Star, Early Retirement and Volnay de Thaix are all entered in this race too, where competition could come from The Devils Drop, The Unmentionable, First Drift, For Rita and Killlinkere.

Our last race is for older horses, aged eight years and over, and both Cave Queen and Champions Chase have wins this season. Just Cause, Volnay de Thaix and Forever Field are top rated however.

As usual there will be bookmakers to take your bets and plenty of food and drink retailers to keep you satisfied
