The Cottesmore Point-to-point on 23rd February 2025 is the second of four meetings at Garthorpe racecourse, just East of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. Six races start at 12pm.
Please note £1000 first prize for the Mixed Open sponsored by Saffery, to whom many thanks. Mixed Open also has a lower entry fee of £35.
Owners will be given invitations to the hospitality area on declaration.

The CONDITIONS Race (Level 2), 3m about 6f
For the GARTHORPE HUNTS CLUB MEMBERS SALVER and mementoes to the winning Owner and Rider. The THWAITES CUP to the 1st Cottesmore Rider past the post who has not ridden more than five winners under the rules of any recognised Racing Authority including Point-to-Points. The PERPETUAL HOUND TROPHY to the owner of the 1st Cottesmore qualified past the post. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider.
PRIZE MONEY: 1st £200, 2nd £120, 3rd £80. Total Prize Fund £400
PENALTIES: For each win on or since 1st October 2023 in a Steeplechase or Hurdle race under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) to carry 7lb extra; for each win in a Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point in this period to carry 5lb extra, and for each win in a Conditions race at the same Level or higher (to include Confined, Club Association, Service or Society Point-to-Point races) in this period to carry 3lb extra. Maximum penalty to be carried is 10lb. Penalties are cumulative.

For the YOUNG SPARTACUS PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP to the owner of the 1st horse past the post. Mementoes to the winning owner and rider.
PRIZE MONEY: 1st £275, 2nd £175, 3rd £100, 4th £50. Total Prize Fund £600.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: For horses who cannot have won ANY race since 1st October 2022; for riders who prior to the Thursday before the date of this Point-to-Point chase have not ridden more than 20 winners under the Rules of racing or the Rules of a recognised Racing Authority, Point-to-Point or Arab Horse races.

The Saffrey MIXED OPEN Race, 3m, 11st7lb

ALLOWANCES: Riders who, prior to the Thursday before the date of this Point-to-Point Steeplechase, have not ridden more than 5 winners under the Rules of Racing or the Rules of a recognised Racing Authority, Point-to-Point Steeplechases or Arabian Horse Races; 5lb.
PENALTIES: A winner on or since 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024 inclusive, of three or more eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) OR a winner of two eligible Steeplechase, Hurdle Race or Flat Races under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) and one or more Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point race in this period, to carry 5lb extra. Further penalties apply for wins on or since 1st October 2024 in an eligible Steeplechase or Hurdle race under the Rules of any recognised Racing Authority (Point-to-Points excepted) or in a Mens, Ladies or Mixed Open Point-to-Point; for one such win 3lb extra; for two such wins 5lb for three or more such wins 7lb; maximum total penalty to be carried is 7lb.

PENALTIES: A previous winner of a Restricted race to carry 5lb extra.
