New Midlands Area Chairman appointed
Major Charlie Moore has been appointed as Midlands Area Chairman by unanimous vote and will commence the role with immediate effect.
He succeeds Northamptonshire trainer Gerald Bailey who fulfilled the role for five years.
Charlie Moore has been involved with horses since the age of seven. He hunted and evented ponies, received a Pony Club Scholarship, and raced in Point-to-Points. He has ridden round Aintree’s National Course in the Foxhunter’s Chase, and competed at the Burghley International three-day event.
He joined the army, knowing that the managerial and leadership challenges it presented would stand him in good stead, and spent four years in the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, rising to the rank of Major.
On leaving the forces he became a Clerk of the Course and Manager at Market Rasen. He fulfilled similar roles at Doncaster, Nottingham and Towcester before resisting a move to head office in London, instead going to work for Northern Racing, based at Uttoxeter. He is now in his ninth year as Clerk of the Course there.
Uttoxeter is a busy racecourse, with a full calendar of racing and non-racing events such as conferences, weddings and other special events. He is also Regional Clerk of Course for Arena Racing Company, and Secretary for the Meynell Point-to-Point.
