D & M Barthorpe Ltd MAPPA Awards
The Midlands Area held an entertaining and fabulous awards evening, enjoyed by a great cross section of jockeys, stable staff, trainers, owners and race day volunteers, on the 24th September, held at Shearsby bath hotel. The evening could not have taken place, without our dedicated, generous sponsors Mark and Pat Barthorpe, who have loyally supported us for the past 26 years. We would also like to compliment Dodson and Horrell for their sponsorship of the Leading Horse Trophy which was presented to owner Mr Richard Russell, for his multiple winning Gunmoney.
Fun and frolics were had before and after the awards, with guests kindly donating a total sum of £370, which has gone to the Injured Jockeys Fund. Rounded up by an evening's dancing.

The ground at Garthorpe dried well throughout the week leading up to the 2024 renewal of the Belvoir point-to-point at Garthorpe on Saturday 23rd March, and a big crowd of racegoers braved some icy hail showers and a typically arctic prevailing wind and partied in the bar long after racing had finished. Clerk of Course […]
